Google has been working on a 3D immersive view feature for a long time. It is not completely ready, but the company offers now to experience it to users. Google released new updates on Android and iOS that you can have a chance on Google Maps 3D view for famous landmarks.
Google Maps also adds detailed cycling route info
Besides the 3D aerial views of famous landmarks feature, you will be able to see the detailed cycling route info on Google Maps with the next update in the coming weeks. There will be about 100 aerial views of iconic landmarks such as Barcelona, London, and New York.
You can view about a hundred popular places on Google Maps with photorealistic aerial views. This is the first step for launching the “immersive view,” according to a blog post from Google Maps director of product Amand Leicht Moore. You can also see indoor views and information like traffic and the weather layered on the map with the immersive view feature.
Google will begin launching “immersive view” in Los Angeles, London, New York, San Francisco, and Tokyo this year. With today’s update, you cannot see weather conditions, what a place looks like throughout the day, and how busy a place is, and indoor views are also currently unavailable.
A spokesperson said, “Say you’re planning a trip to New York. With this update, you can get a sense of what the Empire State Building is like up close so you can decide whether or not you want to add it to your trip itinerary. To see an aerial view wherever they’re available, search for a landmark in Google Maps and head to the Photos section”.
